    What Are Seamless Gutters?

The most common (and outdated) gutters are sectional gutters. These gutters are purchased in pieces and attached one by one to the roof of your house. Then, a sealant connects the parts to each other.

Sectional gutters are challenging to clean and can break or get backed up quickly. However, this method of production is cost-effective. Manufacturers can mass-produce gutter pieces that are cut and joined together to fit any home.

Seamless gutters are made from one piece of aluminum, vinyl, or steel. Since there are no seams, there is less of a chance for leaking. These gutters are also stronger than regular gutters and enhance the look of your home.

    Repairing or Replacing Damaged Gutters

If you have old or damaged gutters, Maycon Construction can repair or replace them. Poorly performing gutters can lead to major roof repairs. How do you know if you’re in need of gutter repair? Here are a few things to look out for:

    • Mold below the gutters
    • Landscape erosion
    • Flaking or peeling paint near the base of the house
    • Rotting windowsills, garage doors, or deck boards below the gutters
    • Cracking of sidewalks, stairs, or patios

Typical gutter systems start to fail between 10 and 15 years after installation. If your system has special protection—we can do this for you—that can double its lifespan.

If you can’t remember when the gutters were installed, or you see some of the warning signs, it is probably time for gutter replacement. Give us a call. We’ll come out and do a free inspection.

    Gutter Sizing

Figuring out gutter sizing can be confusing on your own. How do gutters and downspouts go together? What size is best for your roof? Depending on your roofline, you can use standard or oversized gutters.

Standard seamless gutters are five inches in width and have one downspout every 30-40 feet. A standard gutter will work for you if you find that your gutters don’t overflow during regular rain.

Oversized gutters are six inches wide and can’t have two downspouts. Oversized gutters may be necessary for you if you need a lower gutter for the smaller ones to drain into. They are also useful if you have a roofline where water tends to pool in one area.

    Why Choose Seamless Gutters

You can stop worrying about difficult maintenance if you upgrade to seamless gutters. While debris tends to build up at the joints of sectional gutters, you won’t have this problem with seamless gutters. Cleaning them is simple, and they rarely clog.

The best part about seamless gutters is their aesthetic appeal. If you care about how the exterior of your home looks, you don’t want clunky gutters to mess it up. You can get seamless gutters made from various metals such as aluminum, copper, or steel. Compliment your home with the metal of your choice or get a colored paint finish to match your home’s exterior. If you need new gutters, then it’s time to go the seamless route!
